The Musculoskeletal Tumour Course, organised and run collaboratively by Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology & Musculoskeletal Sciences, University of Oxford, UK; the CURE Hospital, Ethiopia; and Australian Doctors for Africa, was held from 8-10 October 2018 at the Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Professor David Wood, an Orthopaedic Surgeon and UWA Medical School Professor, is ADFA’s representative. Prof Wood contributed to the course design and travelled to Ethiopia to present many aspects of the course over the three days.
There were 46 registrants at this year’s course – more than the optimal 40 and many more had their applications deferred to next year.
Providing intensive training courses to orthopaedic surgeons is a sustainable way to advance skills and improve services to patients on an ongoing basis.
Generous financial support from Sock it to Sarcoma! allows our volunteers to conduct this program.
