Australian Doctors for Africa was pleased to partner with the Australian Ambassador to Madagascar, HE Ms Jenny Dee for the inauguration of the renovated Orthopaedics and Traumatology Ward of the Centre Hospitalier de Soavinandriana (Cenhosoa) in the Madagascan capital, Antananarivo on 7 June 2019. Dignitaries from the Ministries of Defence and Public Health, along with hospital management and staff, and the project manager and builder, attended the ceremony. Dr Richard McMullin, ADFA volunteer urologist from Ballarat, spoke on behalf of Australian Doctors for Africa.
The renovation will provide a safer and more efficient working environment for doctors and nurses; a cleaner and more supportive orthopaedic wards; and it will reduce post-operative infection and cross infection, thereby improving outcomes for patients.
This project was funded by Australian Doctors for Africa and supported by Australian Government funding through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) and the Australian Embassy Direct Aid Program (DAP). You can read the Australian Embassy media report here.
