Thanks to an incredible ADFA volunteer team of Dr Li-On Lam, Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Bob Jang, Orthopaedics registrar, nurses Lucy Harris and Cherrie Genat, and Rob Genat (logistics), who recently travelled to Tulear, Madagascar.

During their visit to three hospitals in Tulear the team performed 63 consultations, 7 major operations and carried out daily ward rounds for post operative patients.  The team also provided training opportunities for local doctors, nurses and medical students.

Another important achievement by the team was establishing the storage room at the CHU University Hospital with shelving, lighting and locks, and organising and labelling the supplies which will really help future teams with equipment and consumable requirements.

Thanks to SJOG Bunbury for supporting this mission by donating consumable items such as raytec, suction, diathermy, sutures, blades, dressings and gloves.

Our programs in Madagascar are supported by Australian Government funding through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program.
