Over the past 12 months, in lieu of visiting due to COVID travel restrictions, many of our volunteers have continued to support and mentor health care professionals in the four East African countries we assist.

By providing equipment, on-line training, and ongoing mentoring and advice, we are able to continue to train and support specialists, nurses and technicians, so they can continue to provide medical assistance to their communities.

Digby Cullen and Cath Poole, Gastroenterology team volunteers, have been particularly busy providing equipment and support (with the help of Hanitra in our Madagascar office) to the six endoscopy units they have set up and supported for many years in Madagascar.

Following the recent provision of a replacement gastroscope to the Fianarantsoa Endoscopy Unit, Gastroenterologist Dr Helio, said “On behalf of the patients and the team, thanks thanks thanks!!!”
