Thanks to a grant from the Rotary Club of Attadale, Australian Doctors for Africa supported the purchase and installation of a new generator and 2 solar hot water systems for Clinique St Luc in Toliara, Madagascar.
During a visit to Toliara in 2024, our Volunteer Orthopaedic Team identified the need and suggested these improvements – thanks to Dr Li-On Lam, Cherrie Genat, Lucy Harris and Dr Georgina Waters for your commitment to our programs.
The generator will ensure power outages do not interrupt future operating procedures and the hot water systems will improve patient care, staff facilities and cleaning procedures.
Mr Herizo Rakotomavo, the hospital Director appreciated the donation of this equipment, and said, “We have already tested the generator. There was a power cut during the bad weather and the electric generator started in seconds without human action. And when the power came back, it turns off automatically. Wonderful!”
We acknowledge the generosity and support of the Rotary Club of Attadale for making this project possible.
