Australian Doctors for Africa provided in-service Perioperative Orthopaedic Nursing and Basic Wound Prevention and Management Training to 28 nurses at regional hospitals in Hawassa and Hossana, Ethiopia.
Huge thanks to our two Ethiopian experienced nurse trainers, Eyerusalem Amanu and Wubalem Abebe, for providing excellent training on behalf of ADFA.
The 5 days of training included classroom and hands-on sessions in hand hygiene; sterilising and maintenance of instruments and implants; trauma care; basic wound care; and prevention of fracture related infections.
“I appreciate the guidance and mentorship of ADFA and its team led by Eyerusalem Amanu and Wubalem Abebe! You’ve been so helpful training our Orthopedic Operating Room Personnel and Ward Nurses. We are really proud and happy working with ADFA since the inception of Orthopedic and Trauma Care in Wachemo University Hospital!” said Dr Habtamu Tamrat, Head of Orthopaedics (Hossana).
