Australian Doctors for Africa has donated orthopaedic plates, screws and instruments to the Ayder Comprehensive Specialised Hospital in Mekelle, Ethiopia.  This equipment donation followed a 4 week Fellowship in limb reconstruction surgery at the Centre for Musculoskeletal Infections and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland by Dr Kidane Teka, Ayder Hospital orthopaedic surgeon.

“The fellowship program and orthopaedic implants you provided will enable us to offer life-changing surgeries to individuals who would otherwise have been unable to afford them.  These surgeries will alleviate pain, restore mobility and improve the quality of life for recipients.  We are deeply grateful for your commitment to ensuring everyone has access to essential medical care.”  Dr Tewelde Niguse, Head of Orthopaedics at Ayder Hospital.

Special thanks to the Perth Tigrayan Community who supported this project.
