Over the past six months, Australian Doctors for Africa has pivoted its programs to focus on supporting our in-country partners and hospitals by providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to front line healthcare workers in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Somaliland and Comoros.

Since April, we have managed significant and effective acquisition and delivery of PPE valued at $520,000:

  • 146,000 masks
  • 67,000 gloves
  • 1,500 disposable gowns
  • 510 face shields
  • 480 goggles
  • Bottles of hand sanitiser, disinfectant and detergent

Some was purchased by ADFA but most was donated with great generosity of spirit by Minderoo Foundation, ProtoSpace (University of Technology Sydney), Ansell and a private donor who wishes to remain anonymous.

ADFA’s strategy is to protect health workers so they can continue to care for their patients.  Teamwork and cooperation on a global scale enables so much to be achieved!
