ADFA packed its 70th sea container last week, full of donated medical equipment for CHU Antanambao (main, local public hospital), and our volunteer and Clubfoot programs in Toliara, Madagascar.
Over 300 items were loaded including 25 hospital beds and mattresses, examination tables, operating table, birthing bed, anaesthetic machine, ventilators, wheelchairs, crutches, scrubs, PPE and theatre/medical supplies. The equipment and boxes of supplies for the hospital will complement the renovation of three operating theatres which is currently underway.
Huge thanks to our hard working packers on a 40 degree day! – Graeme, Geoff, Helen, Loic and Dawn – and to Michael, Tom and the team at AWH for forklift assistance and ongoing storage support.
Gratitude to the many public and private hospitals, WA Department of Health, RFDS, Axis Health and other private donors for “recycling” not required equipment to ADFA, and to Wheelchairs for Kids for 10 specially designed wheelchairs for disabled children.
Special shout-out and appreciation to Graeme Wilson, who voluntarily manages our Logistics Program, and thanks to the team at CEVA Logistics for your fantastic shipping assistance.
We acknowledge and appreciate the support for this container from The Very Good Foundation, through Perpetual, and the DAK Foundation for donation of a large autoclave and 6 patient monitors.
