Australian Doctors for Africa has expanded its scholarship program by providing two new scholarships for female medical students in Somaliland.

Hafsa and Zainab are studying medicine at the Edna Adan University Hospital in Hargeisa and have been awarded scholarships to cover their university tuition fees for the next three years.

“As a young woman, living in Somaliland, the medical school have been a challenging experience. From the tough classes to the late nights. However, I feel that I will have no problem arising to this challenge. As becoming a medical doctor means everything to me”, said Zainab.

“Being a doctor is my greatest dream, and hope I deserve to be a doctor one day as I am a hard worker, confident, energetic, motivated and enthusiastic and always achieve highest grades. You (ADFA) are doing a great job for those w ho want to achieve their goals and I am sure this program will be helpful to many ambitious people like me”, said Hafsa.
