A volunteer Urology & Orthopaedics team from Ballarat, Victoria made their 7th visit to Toliara, Madagascar to provide much-needed medical assistance and training.

Huge thanks to Dr Lydia Johns Putra (Urologist) and Dr Shaun English (Orthopaedic Surgeon), Dr Hock Tan (Anaesthetist), Kylie Cross (Theatre Nurse) and Sophie Tan (medical student/logistics) for volunteering and making a difference to many people in need.

Although the team was evacuated a few days early due to civil unrest, they still completed 184 clinical consultations and 28 surgical procedures.   Particular thanks to the Australian High Commission in Mauritius and the Base Toliara team for evacuation assistance.

Thanks to the St John of God Ballarat Hospital for donation of pharmaceuticals and supplies, and Ballarat Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine for 2 sets of crutches.
